The Palakkad Node in Kerala, covering 1,710 acres, is set for development across three land parcels: Pudussery Central, Pudussery West, and Kannambra. Located 20 km from Palakkad City, 150 km from Cochin, and 50 km from Coimbatore, this strategic site offers exceptional connectivity for industrial growth.
With an investment potential of ₹8,729 crore and a project cost of ₹3,806 crore, the node is expected to create 51,000 jobs. Designed to provide a market-driven, transparent, and investment-friendly ecosystem, it promises to enhance Kerala's industrial landscape.
The Government of India has launched a bold and transformative initiative to redefine the nation’s industrial landscape through the creation of 12 cutting-edge Industrial Smart Nodes under the National Industrial Corridor Programme India’s most ambitious infrastructure endeavor to date. This visionary program aims to build futuristic smart industrial cities that seamlessly integrate next-generation technologies across infrastructure sectors. As part of this national vision, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) is developing the Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (KBIC) to connect the central and southern regions of India.
This corridor is an extension of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC), stretching to Kochi via Coimbatore. The KBIC aims to catalyze regional industrial agglomeration and fast-track economic development across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. By addressing infrastructure bottlenecks and leveraging the unique strengths of each state, the corridor will foster a competitive and resilient industrial ecosystem.
The node selected in Kerala is Palakkad, which is strategically positioned to capitalize on robust multi-modal connectivity, making it an ideal destination for industrial development. Located adjacent to National Highway 544 (Salem–Kochi Road),. This highway network ensures seamless movement of goods and people across regional and interstate corridors. Rail connectivity further strengthens the site’s logistical advantages, with Palakkad Junction one of Kerala’s largest railway stations under the Southern Railway zone serving as a central hub for freight and passenger transport. Air connectivity is equally well-established, with Cochin and Coimbatore International Airports providing reliable domestic and international travel and cargo services. Adding to its strategic appeal, Palakkad is located within close proximity to two major ports Cochin Port (115 km) and Kozhikode Port (124 km).
The IMC Palakkad is spread in 3 locations as below:
